Small village in Spain

This is battle report form one of the games played at Jatacenje convention.
At first my opponent had some funny ideas how to use measuring sticks, but he grasped these rules rather quickly.
British soldiers deployed in the small village at the center of the table.
Voltigeurs started behind the forest, hoping to flank enemy once the cavalry engage them.
French cavalry attacked head on. Dragoon rushed forward and charged British line grenadier, but grenadier passed morale test and shoot, killing him at the spot. First blood went to British side. One voltigeur rushed towards village. British fired at him with all they have, but all they achieved was couple of push backs. Later in the game, this voltigeur was engaged in duel with British rifles chosen men, and was killed thanks to longer range of the chosen men rifle...
British light dragoons charged remaining voltigeurs behind the forest. They managed to kill NCO and then moved to the save distance exchanging fire with the soldier in the woods, with no result to either side....

Finlay, French cavalry charged, bringing fight to the village streets. Mixed unit of Polish guard lancers and French chasseurs broke defensive line of infantry men and managed to kill British officer. Morale tests did the rest, and surviving British soldiers rooted, leaving village to become another jewel in the crown of the Emperor...

Voltigeurs on Dino Safari

Holidays season means more free time, so I am using every moment my kid sleeps to play or paint.
So, I have sent my voltigeurs dinosaur hunting using Adventures in the Lost Lands rules.
Team consisted of captain (star) at the left with 2 soldiers, Sargent mending 3 pack horses that will carry the trophies from the hunt, and another NCO with 3 soldiers on the right.
Firtst try out, my team wondered into encounter rating 4 area. One PEF wondered into starting zone in second turn, and triggered In sight test. It turned to be T-Rex! Beast charged team to the right, which failed being charge test and run off the table. Star and horses followed voluntarily :)
Captain took his men back after hour or two. T-Rex left, leaving area ER2, with 2 PEFs at the far end of the table.
First PEF turned out to be nothing....
But something was definitely close!
It was triceraptor chewing on high grass!
All soldiers fired, but only one bullet scratched the beast. Triceraptor didn't even notice the wound and continued eating.
Second volley only scared a beast a little, causing no damage, but forcing it to move away from the hunters.
Third volley done the same, as well as forth, that scared dinosaur enough to run off the table, leaving area empty... No trophies this time.... Big dinosaurs are so hard to kill due to its thick hide... Hopefully next time we will run into something medium sized....

First battle

After more then a month without any gaming, I finally found an hour for the hobby.
Therefore, I decided to try new Rally round the King rules by Two Hours Wargames.
This game is usually played with 400 points armies, where 200 is mandatory and called basic army, while other 200 can be selected by player.
Since I had little time, I decided to play a small game of 200 points per side, using mandatory armies.
Machine plays Rodentmen army, as described in the book. They use Penetrate center tactics. Horde is grouped in the center, while skirmishers and giant rats protect the flanks.
I played undead Egyptians I scratch build using rules from the book. Army of 200 points consists of 4 chariots (mounted dual, shock), 3 foot archers, 1 mounted archer, scorpion and one unit of foot guards (elite) with general. All undead have terror and fanatic special rules.
I positioned archers in front and melee troops in the back.
First activation saw horde moving forward full speed. In that way they entered into foot archers range. They fired in their activation hitting horde 3 times. Horde reacted by charging and connected with archers. This would be enough to rout almost any missile troop, but not undead, thanks to their fanatic ability. They received hits, but also succeed to wound horde.
Second activation saw continued melee, and horde managed to dispatch archers, but was left weakened.
I activated my melee units and they charged, routing first line of ratmen. Leader lost test did the rest, finishing the game with undead victory.

Therefore, game lasted only 2 turns. It was fun, especially after long brake from gaming, but the rules practically played themselves. Only tactical decision I made was deployment, after that system just brought me to conclusion. This may be similar to the real historical battles, where tactics were decided before battle and seldom changed in the event, but I would prefer little more freedom. On the other hand, this system is made to be played with 400 points, while I used only half of that, so maybe full points game offers bigger tactical possibilities. But this is something I still have to test....
